Interview With Amateur Surfer Filippa Ferrara

Filippa Ferrara is Senior at Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes. She has been training with the Sandsnowandstreet team for a little over 2 months. Before she started training with the Sandsnowandstreet team she would a little cardio here and there but found herself getting injured and not progressing at the paced she would have liked. BRING OUT THE ATHLETE

Did you ever play competitive sports? If so was this when you were at your fitness best? If you answered yes to both questions then Sandsnowandstreet has the perfect programs for you (BRING OUT THE ATHLETE) to achieve your fitness goals!
The video below shows Bree Valbuena (black bathing suit), Alison Riddle (blue bathing suit), Brad Owen (grey shirt) and Chad Skrederstu (blue board shorts) going through a high intensity Chaos agility drill (http://www.coachdos.com/chaosinterview.html) and two exercise circuits (including the TRX http://www.fitnessanywhere.com/trx-training/) tailored to improve surf performance. The sandsnowandstreet team combined agility drills, plyomtrics, core work, and yoga to tap into the past athletes competitive nature.
Bree Valbuena played water polo for USC. Bree contacted the sandsnowandstreet team to jump start her current fitness program which included 20 minutes on the elliptical and a few arm exercises two to three times a week. The sandsnowandstreet team capitalized on Bree’s competitive nature and grouped her with 2 other former Division I athletes to provide her with the intensity she was looking for.
Alison Riddle also played water polo at USC with Bree and has stayed very active since she graduated in 2008. Alison has won medals in Japan and will be leaving to Australia for four months to compete with the best in paddle boarding. As a result, Alison knew she needed a high intensity cross training program to prepare her for the paddle boarding Mecca in Australia. The Sandsnowandstreet team used high intensity intervals in the open water, TRX training, cutting edge core training and chaos agility drills in a group setting to ensure Alison will be prepared for Australia. .
Brad Owen played division I football at the University of Central Florida. Since then he has had 5 knee surgeries and has had not participated in an organized exercise program for 12 years. Brad moved to California in April and fulfilled his dream to live by the beach and learn to surf. The sandsnowandstreet team worked with Brad on his joint stability and mobility before he got in the water to prevent future injuries and give him confidence in the water. Since Brad also played competitive sports in a group setting he was the perfect addition to the group. Brad is now surfing 2 to 3 times a week and has been injury free since he started the Sandsnowandsurf group Bring Out the Athlete program.
